Working With Colors
Color plays a crucial role in cover design, influencing a book’s visual appeal, readability, and overall impact. Coverjig provides several tools to help you customize colors for text, text backgrounds, and overlays, ensuring your design looks polished and professional.
To change the color of a design element, click on the area you want to modify, then click the color icon to open the color selection window. From here, you can choose a color from a variety of options to adjust your design.
Automatic color detection
When you upload a cover image, Coverjig automatically detects the most commonly used colors in the image. These colors are then displayed in the color selection window, making it easy to match text and background elements to your cover’s existing color scheme.
Harmonious color suggestions
When selecting a new color, Coverjig will suggest complementary colors that pair well with your chosen shade.
Choosing harmonious colors helps create a visually balanced and aesthetically pleasing design, preventing clashing colors that might make text hard to read or the cover appear unprofessional.
Adjusting opacity
In addition to selecting colors, you can also adjust the opacity of text, text background colors, and overlay colors. Adjusting the opacity for these elements can help achieve subtle background effects, or ensure that text remains legible over busy images.
- Use the opacity slider in the color selection window to fine-tune transparency.
- Some menus also include a quick-access opacity slider for convenience.
